The Garbage Dump People | Trujillo, Peru
Facts
- More than 500 people live and/or work in the garbage dump in Trujillo, Peru.
- Trujillo is the third largest city in Peru; it never rains in this desert region.
- There are 300 million youth in Latin America, most of whom do not have a relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Most Latin American youth pastors have little to NO training in youth ministries.
Needs
- Complete a children’s home/orphanage to house children living in the garbage dump.
- Connect with the garbage dump kids to show them LOVE in practical ways while telling them about Jesus.
- Provide parenting classes and micro-business options for those caught in the “garbage community,” giving families hope and a future.
Prayer Focus
- Pray for each child wandering through the garbage dump.
- Pray for the Peruvian church youth groups that are sharing God’s love in the dump through Saturday children’s programs.
- Pray for speedy construction of the children’s home/orphanage so the desperate needs can be addressed more completely.
- Pray that the local church will not get discouraged from ministering in this area filled with disease, desperation, and death.
Resourcing
Step One is to purchase land for the home/orphanage. Step Two is to build and operate the children’s home. Your contribution, along with those of others, will make these ministry goals a reality. The kids in the garbage dump need help immediately—we must help them NOW.
Three-Year Project Goal
- $70,000 will provide a facility where food, housing and clothes will be available for many garbage dump kids.
- All it takes is 25 youth groups that make a three-year commitment to give $79 per month.
- How many scores of children could we rescue from the dump in Trujillo? Let’s dream BIG.
